Nanoarchitectures
Group Leader: Galo Soler Illia
At INS we design and build up nanomaterials, which are then applied in our own research, or in collaboration with different partner institutions. "Soft chemistry" synthesis strategies are combined with the self-assembly of nanoparticles, organic molecules, surfactants or biomolecules.
_Nanobiology Laboratory
Group Leader: Marina Simian
Lab Manager: María Amparo Lago Huvelle
Nanotechnology is a promising tool to delineate new therapeutic strategies, since it allows to tackle several targets simultaneously. In the NanoBio laboratory of the INS we work interdisciplinary in the design of multifunctional nanoparticles.
Design and development of innovative porphyrin nanomaterials
Group Leader: Mariana Hamer
The aim of this project is the design and development of porphyrin nanostructures with applications such as sensors and catalysts, combining the intrinsic properties of porphyrins with the novel properties derived from the architecture obtained after molecular assembly.
_Advanced Biosensors Laboratory
Group Leader: Diego Pallarola
The objective of this Laboratory focuses on the development of highly sensitive biosensing devices based on optical and electrochemical measurements for bioanalytical and biomedical applications, with particular emphasis on the design of nanostructured label-free detection interfaces.
Synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials for catalysis and sensing applications
Group Leader: María Fernanda Cardinal
This research line exploits the localized surface plasmon resonances present in metallic nanoparticles for the study and detection of molecules by LSPR and SERS.
Ultrafast Structural Dynamic
Group Leader: Gastón Corthey
In our group, we use femtosecond electron diffraction (FED) combined with time-resolved UV/Vis/NIR spectroscopies and several steady-state techniques to study to ultrafast dynamics of different chemical reactions and physical processes taking place in systems with potential applications in the solar energy conversion and storage.
