  1. What courses does the Study Abroad Program at UNSAM offer?

  2. What is the academic calendar in UNSAM?
    We follow the Argentinean academic calendar, which is divided in two semesters: March-July and August-November. For further information, please visit www.unsam.edu.ar/studyabroad/academic.asp

     

     

  3. Does UNSAM offer free courses?
    The free courses are only offered to students who can speak Spanish. If you are fluent in the language you can be part of a regular Academic Program, taking courses in Spanish.

     

     

  4. Can I transfer credits from UNSAM to another university?
    Yes. Any student can transfer the obtained credits to their home university.

     

     

  5. How many courses or credits do I have to take to be considered a full-time student?
    To be considered a full-time student you have to take four (4) courses per semester. Each course takes 48 or 64 hour length per semester which means three or four class hours per week.

     

     

  6. How many credits will be transferred to my home university for each course I take?
    We will inform the students´ home university the total amount of hours of each taken course. The home university will convert or decide how many credits that represents according to its academic regulation.

     

     

  7. Is it possible to obtain information about the content of the subjects you are offering?
    Yes. Please know that we can send you the requested information about the syllabus that you would like to get.

     

     

  8. How many courses are I allowed to take for the semester?
    We consider a full time student to those who take four courses per semester but it is a personal decision to take less or more than that. Anyways we do not suggest to take more than five courses per semester.

     

     

  9. Do I need to speak Spanish to attend classes?
    No. It is not necessary to have any knowledge of Spanish to apply to the Study Abroad Program. All Study Abroad Program courses are taught in English.

     

     

  10. Does the Study Abroad Program offer Spanish courses?

    Yes, there are several Spanish Courses you may take. Most of them are detailed in the Academic Program. But UNSAM also offers Spanish for Business, Medical Spanish, and others.


     

     

  11. Which level of English should a student have to attend the Study Abroad Program?
    We highly recommend to have approved a Proficiency level or equivalent.

     

     

  12. Do I need to approve an English test to participate in the Program?
    No. We just recommend to have approved a Proficiency level or equivalent

     

Questions about location, facilities and services

  1. How can I get the UNSAM Student card and for what can I use it?
    Every student can get the UNSAM Student card for free after obtaining the Argentinean student visa. You can ask for it at campus in the Punto Tornavía Center (a students´ information point). The UNSAM Student Card allows you to get discounts at the Restaurant at campus, the UNSAM bookstore and it can also be used at the library.

     

     

  2. Where is UNSAM  located?
    The university campus, called Miguelete Campus, is located in San Martín District (Province of Buenos Aires), only 20 minutes away from Buenos Aires city. To get to Miguelete Campus students may choose among different means of transportation, such as train, bus or car.

  1. How do I get to the campus?
    By train
    Take Mitre line (branch José Leon Suarez) until Miguelete Station. From there you can walk across the campus or take the free mini train service.

    By bus
    Take lines 21, 28, 57, 78, 87, 106, 117, 123, 161, 169, 176.

    By car
    From the Northern area: Take General Paz highway until Albarellos exit. Turn right on 25 de Mayo Av. and go ahead approximately 600 meters. UNSAM campus will be on your right.
    From the Southern area: Take General Paz Highway until San Martin exit. Get off at San Martìn exit and take the “colectora” until the first traffic light. Turn left and continue on 25 de Mayo Av.  for 700 meters approximately. UNSAM Campus will be on your right.

    Free mini bus service
    UNSAM offers a free mini bus service that goes around the campus and gets you to different university buildings in the San Martin area as well. You can also take it to and from Miguelete Station.  Please go to www.unsam.edu.ar/home/colectivo.asp to check the timetable and more details on that.

  2. Can I use the library?
    Yes. Every student can use the library carrying the UNSAM Student Card.

  3. Where can I get something to eat and drink?
    At Campus Miguelete you can find different options. A small cafeteria at Tornavía Building on the second floor, a small drugstore on the first floor and the central restaurant called Mensa next to the big white tent in the middle of the campus.   4. Can I do sport activities at the campus?
    Yes. You can join the sports program at Secretaría de Extension. For information in Spanish please visit www.unsam.edu.ar/secretarias/extension/actividades.asp or Deportes Unsam. Please contact us to get more information in English.
